Ghouls, Who Needs 'Em.

So, i have come to realize that my life lacks interest. And, without interest, there is no point of trying to ramble and make some sort of reading material out of it (like i am doing right now). So, i am sorry for the lack of updates.

Halloween is today (Happy Halloween!) and pretty much all of the holiday festivities had been expelled by this passed weekend, exept for pumkin carving last night. Saturday was a great party that was heavily documented through pictures, so I'll do my best to include some later. My Peter Griffin costume for this event was a disaster. I attemped to resurrect some college knowledge of theatre make-up, and make a Knox gelatin mask, but i was stopped short when it kepted falling off of my face. So i went with "plan B", which was drawing the butt-chin on. Though, it really didn't matter, because other than an additional 4 people, no one had any clue who he was. Disapointing. People were more curious about where the hell i found green pants. HAha. It was Urban Outfitters, by the way. Everyone looked great though. Alcohol helps.

Work has been... more different than usual. I have been doing some extracurricular activities and taking more "leadership" roles to spice things up. We are currently doing Generational Studies... I am learning a lot about both myself, and my "Generational Buddy".

Thats it for now. More words than media, but it will have to do for now.

No Help for the Bitter

(image stolen from Heather's Facebook,
sorry i have none of my own)

It was an interesting weekend. There isn't really a whole lot to document all of what went on, except a few bad cellphone camera images. A theme was kind of set around the fact that my friends Heather and Aaron got ENGAGED on Saturday. I did my part by setting up a small picnic for them with John, while their friend Ashley set up a dinner. Heather's friends and family from here and from back in Lubbock, made the effort to be there for her. The evening was full of conversation, italian food and achohol (which surpisingly, i had none of). Of course, none of the conversation swayed very far away from relationships, love, and marrage, which I couldn't care less about commitment right now. Of course, in my bitterness, I counted the married couples. Five (six if you count the newly engaged) couples. Thats about half of the attendees. You know though, it's nice to see others happy. To have conversations about "meet cute's" and happy accidents, and about family, instead of the normal bitter, hateful conversations I have. Sadly, I relate more to the hate.

The rest of the weekend was:
Friday, i played Halo and drank until it was about 10:30 and then i watched 28 Weeks Later.
Sunday, I did laundry in a broken dryer, took Heathers brother Zach and his wife around the city, saw The Darjeeling Limited, and the Illustionist.
all the movies were good. i will try and put up some reviews later.

All of this aside, I am extremely happy for both Aaron and Heather because i know that this is what they both wanted very much... so "Congratuations Kids!"

When You Love Enough to Hate

Today at lunch, i got a fortune. It said,

"You were born with a silver spoon in your mouth."

That's not a fortune! That's bordering on insulting! I had ment to scan it in, so you would get the full effect, but i lost it somewhere between the Chinese place and here. It was much more amusing with the smiley faces that began and ended the sentence.

Thankfully, it's Friday.

"I love this city, but I've set and numbered its days. I love this city, enough that I'll set it ablaze. It will burn."

Thunder is Always Louder in the City

Crap, it's so hard to post anymore. My significant lack of motivation has led me from posting every day to every once-and-a-while. But don't worry trusty readers, this doesn't mean the end of Dusel Blogs!. Infact, you should probably get out while you still can because soon the movie reviews will be back. I have actually been reading other blogs more often now, such as Smosch, Kotaku, of course, the awesome NOTCOT and even sometimes What Would Tyler Durden Do?. For better or worse, i feel like i want to blog more because of them.

Luck for us here in Kansas City, it looks like the freaking Apocalypse outside. And just incase typed sarcasm escapes you, we are not lucky at all. It looks about midnight, just before 3 in the afternoon. Don't forget the tons of rain and flooding.

Good God, i love patterns. Enjoy this tasty treat of patterny goodness:

From Dan Funderburgh. Who also does some beautiful hand done type, and urban-esqu illustration.

Also, Julia Rothman (Aaron blogged it first):

And this guy, who i have no clue who he is anymore. Infact, if you know his name please let me know.
Ray Fenwick

If they aren't enough pattern for you. You can check out Flavor League, where much of Dan Funderburgh patterns, as well as plenty others, like scatch-and-sniff, are sold as wallpaper. Personally though, i think scatch-and-sniff wallpaper is an awful idea.

poof! gone.

Living The Lie

I picked this up on friday during our research trip. It's a beautiful children's story, about a boy who eats books. Marita, our famous trends lady, is pretty awesome. She was able to point out a handful of good places to research and some good ideas on what to look for. I hope i get to spend some time with her later.
After researching, Aaron, Heather, John, Ashley, and I ventured out to "Worlds of Fun" for their "Fright Night." It was really amusing. Yesterday, Halo and then Vacancy. Today, church and then Halo. It was an interesting weekend, good overall though.

out.

Among the Leaves and Vines

Today, at work, we painted pumpkins. There aren't a whole lot of places you can work that allows you to come in late, play around all day, then leave early, and have it be part of your salary. Good times. They will be donated to the Sun Flower House, and auctioned off. Mine's the one with face in the hoodie (if you can tell which that is).

GAH! Ok. My boring life doesn't need to be displayed on the internet. So i deleted the last post. I know i have said this before but i am going to try and stop posting personal things on this blog. Or rather thing that should be left for real life. I feel like i turned the corner here, so this time it might be for real. It's just sometimes it's my only way of getting through ya know? maybe i'm just a screwed up wuss.

Dear Whoever's Still Listening

I got this Wednesday after exiting the gym.
Dear Secret Admirer,
This note was slightly creepy, however I am still flattered. Thank you.

La Posesa

The treasures of inter-office mail. Diabolic Monsters. You definately have to enlarge these and see the awesome halftone pattern. I especially love the Vader and ET rip offs. The first of many Halloween themed posts? Probably.

I'm going to recommend "The Bled - Silent Treatment" to anyone who enjoys harder music.

Brothers of Sin.

I've been here at Hallmark a year... somehow knowing I've been here that long has actually made life harder. my additude was poor today because of the weather too.
In honor of being so far from home i thought i would post this:
North Bowl in Philly.

Bringing class back to bowling. These lanes are absolutely stunning, styled to the golden age of bowling. I wish i could go in person, but for now all i have is the site.

Speaking of Philadelphia. Go Phillies!

Envy for the Witch and the Beast.

The last couple of days, until today, i was forced to take a break from Halo 3. As for the rest of the world, they didn't forget. Above is a statue at Harvard, thanks to some pranksters from MIT, it looks better this way. (thanks to Josh and Nick for the correction)

Last night, i went out to dinner and a movie with a girl. It sounds like a date, and I thought it was a date, but i might have been the only one. Her name is Jaeeun, and she is Korean, so the two of use caught Dragon War, a Korean movie, and sushi for a late dinner. Steriotype? Yeah, maybe, I think it's safe to say that we both had a really good time though.

I feel as if the theme of this weekend was getting to know people better. Whether i liked it or not, or wanted to or not, i did. I have 6 months to figure out what to do with my life.

I just wish i could find the affection i long for. This weekend was an emotional roller coaster and i would like to end it now with some sleep. I guess it's officially October now, maybe this month will be different.
