He Doesn't Fool Me.

Bravo TCM. Brilliant. Take that you writers.

Design Police - Now all they need to do is arrest people for poor design. I think next week i am going to do a dedication to badly designed products, websites, ads, etc. That sounds like a lot of fun. Let the recommendations flow in. To bad i should be on the list too.

i am being a big baby and skipping the gym because i am sore all over. Will I go Saturday to make up for it? ...maybe. i think will do some sit ups then take a nap because i can barely keep my eyes open long enough to do this post.

Josh's Tired Heart.

So, my sister, "Kayla Collins", was on Girls Next Door last night. Yes, the show about Playboy models. And a lot of people are asking me about it. First off, wow, a lot of people watch that show, and... well, probably shouldn't be admitting to it. Just because it's based around smokin' chics, doesn't make it OK to watch. She was on the episode testing for the actual Playboy Magazine. Though people make me feel ashamed to be proud of my sister... i am. she is bold and she is doing what she always wanted to do, so more power to her.

Also, on Sunday night, Aaron and Heather had their Wedding Shower. It just re-enforces the fact that the wedding is just around the corner. While we were at Jack Stack celebrating, we (and by, we i mean my friend Laura because she is the only person that could possibly recognize this person), spotted Kate Spade and her husband Andy "Jack" Spade. Judging by this picture... it was absolutely her. Apparently, she is from this area originally, so it only makes sense that when she is home visiting with family that she would go to a generic BBQ restaurant. So other than spotting JoJo Simmons in Times Square, and Ryan Cabrara in King of Prussia, this is probably one of the only celebrity sightings i will ever have. Especially in Kansas City. Although, with my up and coming sister, who knows.

Tonight, Josh's Super Chunk Chili... i have to say it was pretty tasty. i forgot to take some pictures, but you will have to take my word for it.

PS. i'm still without a 360.

A Babe Among the Wolves

Because most people don't watch Cartoon Network as much as i do i figured i would pass this one along. The Hives - Fall is Just Something That Grown-ups Invented. Beautifully illustrated and LETTERED video made for a promo spot with CN's new image. I believe the work is done by Shilo Creative, thats who did the short version of the commercial at least. There is also an other commercial with a tween boy rapping, with a similar style... but i can't find it on the internet anywhere. however, when i do find it, you will be seeing it. Word.

Honor and Envy

Update: Heath Ledger was discovered naked and dead of a supposed drug overdose around 3:00PM EST in Mary-Kate Olsen's SoHo apartment. It's being suspected that it was suicide. He was only 28 and left a 2 year old girl... This is really tragic. Is there a possibility that Heath had a threesome with the Olsen twins and decided, now is a good time to go? Hopefully that wasn't in bad taste, because this is seriously a very sad situation.

Update: i freaking love and miss heath ledger.

Modern Day Musical

Good-day readers,
By now, i would be half way through the work day, probably staring blankly at a card, distracting myself with AIM and e-mail. But today, thanks to the the passion of MLK, i get to sleep in, make breakfast and be bored and alone at home.

Friday night, i got out to see "There Will Be Blood" with Aaron and John, which is always a good time. We got Aaron's new suit, gorged on Cici's Pizza, and just made it. It wasn't "the best movie of last year." In fact, i feel as if i am still trying to grasp the whole thing. The musical score was amazing, and Daniel Day-Louis is a tremendous actor, so together they did make the movie compelling.

The next morning i got up early to take Aaron to the airport. Basically, sealing my weekend to my apartment.

To go with rest of my brilliant month of January, the only real thing i had planned for this weekend, was play some of my new games for the 360. Of course this was foiled by what they call "the red ring of death". So, i drove all the way down to Best Buy in Oak Park to get a new one... they were fresh out of 360's as of that morning. Best Buy is going to get an ear-full next time i go. So needless to say, that didn't make my weekend outlook very bright.

The highlight to the weekend most definitely was the movie "Once." On Sunday afternoon (before the disappointing Best Buy trip), instead of watching the Patriots win again, i put in this DVD that i have been putting off watching for weeks. I would have loved to watch it with a girl, but it was probably less embarrassing getting all giddy myself. It was adorable. It wasn't overly emotional, but some how you really connected with the characters. It was filmed to look like it was a documentary following the guy who needs the love of the girl, to get him motivated to make music. I was worried the songs would be awful, being that it's a self proclaimed "modern day musical", but i was wrong. I guess the "modern day" is more predominant than the "musical" in this movie. How i feel about this movie is pretty clear; basically, if you could combine my two favorite things together, movies and live indie music, you get this film. Lets just say, If i would have watched this movie last year, it would have definitely made a run at the number one spot for my favorite movies of 2007. The one thing i didn't like about this movie was the poster... i could have even did a better job.

Back to work and loneliness on this gray winter day.

Heartbreaking Happiness.

This is probably my favorite motion typography video. It was created for a senior project by college students. Nuts. The song, if you were wondering, is "the Hush Sound - Lions Roar".

Some people have been upset that i am not posting my drama on here... sometimes i want to, i won't lie. The truth is, January is going pretty crappy, (grant it, this week so far hasn't been horrible, but there is still time) and i just don't really feel like talking about it. You can all gasp in utter shock now. We'll see what next month is like... but for now i am going to still try and post typography/design related material.

I am the Resolution

This is only 6 designs in a TREASURE TROVE of supreme screen prints byMethane Studios. Surprisingly, Dave Matthew's actually has some awesome posters out there, and i'm going to go ahead and say this studio probably made all of them. I guess i just just assumed the posters where only made by stoners throwing the firedancer symbol and concert dates on an 11x17. I guess i was wrong. These are a perfect example of incorporative, fitted and nested type. My favorite. Other than posters for sale, they also have some pretty sweet t-shirts.

The Missouri Breaks.

Type experiment by someone whose name i couldn't even begin to prononce Thijs Verbeek. It's really kinda creepy... but pretty excellent at the same time.

Go to a Hallmark Gold Crown store and check out the (RED) line. it's pretty spectacular.

Things are nuts right now.

Love Like Water (and Everyone but Me is Drowning)

I love these motion graphics they get me every time. i don't even know what this one is saying, i just know it's beautiful.

James Brown's Super Bad remixed with motion graphics. A definite winner.

This month will be typography focused. I figured i would start out with something fun. Enjoy.

Forgetting One Year.

"so this is the new year, and i don't feel any different."

2007 was a hard year for me. There were a lot of down times, but at the same time, there were a lot of highlights. Between this past year and the one before that, i feel like i have changed, but mostly grown a lot. Dispite this, here's to moving on. Here's to the new year; too the good times and the bad, let them shape me an make me a better person. Here's to you, me, and everyone i know to finding love and happiness in your everyday life...

Happy New Year.
