What We Want (From Life)

Ever feel like you are one of those contestants on American Idol, that all your life people were telling you how great you were at something (beause no body had the heart to tell otherwise) until you are on national television and some snob finally tells you how much you actually suck? I feel like that all the time. Especially today.

As of late, i have been in a really shitty mood. I just can't seem to shake this foul attitude. So, i am going to steal from Bess, what she stole from her friend Kim, and do a list of things that make me happy, in hopes that i will drive out some of the negativity... i will be honest, before i start on the list... i have been trying to think of some ever since last night and i've been having some trouble. So that sorta gives you an idea the mood i am in. But i have been putting some serious thought into what kind of things bring a smile to my face despite my mood. If you stick around and read you might learn something about me that you didn't know (that is if you care).

Here it goes...
-driving with the windows down.
-going downhill on a bike.
-the ticking of an analog clock.
-singing like no body's listening.
-pretending to be in a band.
-waking up to the sun
-over the top action scenes (mostly hand-to-hand).
-excellent customer service.
-having someone watch me play video games.
-pizza.
-a good hook to a song.
-free stuff.
-vitamin water.
-letting the windows open to here the rain
-looking for "Orions Belt" (the constellation)
-making out.
-Jones Soda
-making dinner for two
-Frisky Dingo
-Less Than Jake
-praying
-making someone laugh until they cry.
-buying things for someone for no reason.
-onion rings
-having a steady paycheck
-blogging
-showers
-cold room/warm sheets

i have to say this did make me feel a little better. thanks.
maybe i'll add more later.

Damn These Awkward Hands

This was the most interesting weekend i have had in a while. Definitely in a good way.

Saturday was covered in snow. I just wish i had taken some pictures because judging by the forecast, by the end of the say tomorrow the snow and ice will only be a memory. I did manage to get out Saturday night, and it was WELL worth my time.

Sunday, today, was basically how it was meant to be, based around religion. After church this morning, we made a quick stop at Bo-Lings for lunch, and then off to more church. People see black churches on TV and in the movies, but who actually gets to experience it. I went and loved it. It was surreal. Entering the church service at 3 in the afternoon, this is what happened;
sat through 3 rappers,
2 def-poets,
2 amateur singers,
a dance troop,
a mime,
sang in 3 gospel congregation worships (one of which included the whole church holding hands),
all the while being one of six total white people,
getting out 3 hours later, and had their hands hurt and voice scratchy afterwards.
How many people can say they have done the same? If you haven't before, you should try it. Besides the fact of it being long, and draining, it was amazing.
After that, Heather, Aaron and I headed to meet up with some new friends to make gingerbread houses. Despite the fact that mine was an ugly mess, it was the perfect way to cap off a day. I had enough fun to last me a lifetime. Pictures to follow.

I really liked who i was this weekend.

This Friday, I will be making my long trek home. 17 hours. Me, my friend Emily, energy drinks, an iPod full of music to sing too, and plenty of conversation. I'm excited to be home.

Abortion

Update on Richard Quest:

Finnish Newspapers Reported.
The gay Jewish guy is Richard, the Jolly bearded guy is Santa, the card in their hands is the one we designed for them (notice the huge-ass Hallmark logo we slapped on the back so people know).

Welcome Rewards.

I am currently blogging from my new toy:
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB memory
320GB hard drive1
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory

This new, free Printer/Scanner. Rebate pending.
and a new RED shuffle to replace the old one.

Clearly, i took advantage of the Black Friday discounts from Apple. This is definitely my best purchase since the Wii, and i think i deserve it. After a year out here, i felt like it was time.

Am I an Apple snob now? Yeah, i think i might be... Feels good.
Thats all for now because i am really beat for some reason.

Free King

For the last five days or so, it has been surpassing 100 degrees here in Missouri. The days seem short, but the weeks seem long. I guess thats how summer moves...

I find it funny how, relatively speaking, things never really stay "good" for me. And I guess the same can be said for my "bad" times. I am the type of person that learns to cope, adjust and deal with what i have been dealt. Same can be said for almost everyone, I suppose. We all get used to our surroundings, and habits, and mindsets, until something comes along that messes with it. Whether it's bad or good, and the severity, determines that amount of time it would take you to adjust. Also, if you are trying to adjust to something that has brought you down, and you are on a slow upward battle to get back to "normal", little glitches in your so called "normal" seem so much bigger. Is my real problem that i have to be "better than normal" to be happy? When you taste happiness do you ever really want to go back to just "OK"? So, when "happiness" becomes your normal, then you reach for the next level of happiness. It's either that or, like me, something changes and you are back to where you began. All of the best things i can think of that happen to me, are soon taken away. If i would look at my life as a graph and my starting point for happiness were 0, you would find that I would pretty well even out back to 0 (most likely a little bit below). I guess thats not too bad, but it would be nice to be above the keel for once.

When you are angry on a cell phone, you can't quiet convey it the same way as when you have a phone with a receiver. You can't quiet flip the phone closed hard, or push the button angrily; sometimes you just wanna slam that shit out of that phone down on the hook. Down fall of technology.

Things I've learned about having a dog (Part Three):
- you never have to worry about picking up any food you have dropped.
- you get a lot of extra exercise.

I Am The Predator, You Are The Prey

It's tragic i know that i haven't posted in a couple days. but it was the weekend... i am about to give you an update now.

So, as life goes, the last couple days (thursday/friday) have been some of the hardest that i have had to deal with. But it was followed up by some great times. I won't go into too much detail, but i had a great time on Saturday. I'm surprised i could talk after all the conversing i did between Friday and Saturday night.

I can't thank everyone enough for putting everything into persective. Bob and Lauren really got it going... So, i can't thank them enough. From there, the weekend was on an uphill slop. Starting out with breakfast on at my favorite place, Succotash, with the awesome Aaron and Garthy on Saturday. The conversation was great. Followed by talking at the pool with Bob and Lauren whilst tanning. Then, singing and screaming on the way to maybe one of the best Wal-Mart trips in a long while. The night ended up with Heather, Bob and Lauren, "not watching" Thumbsucker, because we were too busy talking. Oh, and Papa Johns. Delicious.

Sunday:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Although visually entertaining, I felt this was a big disappointment after watching the The Prisoner of Azkaban. The biggest advantage to this film was dragons. Dragons are always a win for me in a movie. However, it wasn't enough to save it. The movie was about a contest that Harry gets wrapped into unwillingly, but somehow it is sandwiched between a secret plot... and a love story... and all to convenient classes. I felt like the movie was long, and not as well tied together. This movie was darker than even the last, and set up the next movie to be epic.

After this came the "Shark Week '07 Kick-off Party". Everyone brought some sort of "themed" snack. Heather designed the poster and brought "Chum" Punch, Cecilia brought Goldfish crackers, Emily brought Shark Infested Jello, Bob and Lauren Louisiana Yum-yum (with Shark gummies), Jay-bo and Patty, as well as myself brought Rice Crispy Sculptures. Brian hosted, supplied gummies, chips and dip, and took pictures. I will upload some pictures later with his permission. The show was only OK, but the party was freaking amazing.

Land of the Dead - It's been quite some time since I have seen a zombie movie. And really any time without a zombie movie is too long. The basic idea of this movie is; well after zombies first started to walk the Earth, they have started to adapt and even learn. People have sectioned themselves off from the zombies, but they aren't having it. The movie was full of gore, the acting was actually better then most horror movies, and of course it was directed by the man who made zombies what they are today, George A. Romero. The plot was a little sloppy, but thats my only complaint. For fans of the undead only.

Today, I was able to focus. I finished (well, close) the card that has been on my case for 2 weeks now. I goofed off just enough, and and worked more. When i returned home I tonight after Big Love, i got to talk to my ex-girlfriend Sammie. We had a great chat and caught up with each other. She is so easy to talk to. The main topic; growing up. If what she says is true, she is doing really great for herself. I'm proud to be her friend.

Emily sent this to make me happy. fun.

I think that makes up for the two days missing right? gah. you people must hate me.

i can't think of a good song lyric.

Baby, It's Been a While

The music starts up, and a forest of arms arises. Peering through, you can see the boyish face covered in shaggy hair, that matches the wining voice on stage. When it's all over, the music fades to a piercing ring, bringing all other sounds do a dull mute. I saw Taking Back Sunday, UnderOath, and Armor for Sleep tonight. It was a great show. Taking Back Sunday is always a good time, and the opening bands put on a great show was well. I really enjoy going to shows with Heather especially. Ever since I saw Heather holding hands with her Ex way back 2 years or so ago, I have wanted to do the same. That, and to protect her from the raging mosh-pits (even though she could probably handle herself). Tonight I got my chance. We had a romantic "high school date" where we went to McDonald's and the concert. It was exciting to say the least. I would do more of a review on the show but i don't feel like it this time.

Somehow concerts have made their way back into my scheduled activities. First Vedera and other local acts, and then the Shins, TBS... I might also see Vedera again this weekend, Straylight Run later this month, and the Decemberists in April. There are plenty of other shows I would love to go too but I just can't afford all of this.

There is a good chance I am going to buy a Wii this weekend. Next on the list to buy after that is either a tattoo, or an iPod.

This past weekend was an excellent time. We traveled out to Legends. Of course this destination had to be an outlet mall, so I couldn't help but spend lost of money at mildly discounted prices. My fashion consultants; Kristen, Lauren, Bob, and Heather, didn't help either. I got:
-a Banana Republic Blazer
-a Gap Jean Jacket
-a stripped T
-Nike Running shoes
-Chucks
I felt all were well worth the money spent though. I'm also very glad I am able to really connect with these people out here. I feel like each day I grow closer to these people making them lifelong friends.

This is a crock of shit. I find it ironic how someone can complain about Macs not shutting up, but everyone knows that PC users have a history of complaining about Macs since they were built.

I missed Lost tonight... looks like I will have to catch up tomorrow at work. Yeah, I know, I'm terrible. Goodnight folks.

For a Good Time Call...

All I want to be able to do is post with some good news, or something that catches my eye, a review, or something! But I haven't found the time. I am deliriously tired so I am going to cut this short, however I have had a streak of really good days, especially Saturday, that I have been meaning to write about.
