Curse and Cure

I have Bess to thank for actually giving me something to blog about today. I think this is a brilliant way to get different people to read your blog that might not normally bother... now the trick will be tagging 6 friends that give a crap.

The rules of the “6 Random Things About Me Meme”:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged, leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

6 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME, JOSH

1. I am rarely not looking at a monitor of some kind. At work, i am looking at one all day designing. When i come home, i will watch TV, play a video game, or be on my computer. When i go out, I go to the movies pretty often. It's actually kinda sad now that i have put it into words... i should really do something to correct it.

2. I find most porn videos really funny.

3. I have Dermatophagia; biting the skin around the nail. Onychophagia which is basically just nail biting and Dermatillomania which is picking at my skin. Because I'm slightly obsessive-compulsive... but then again, there aren't many creatives who aren't.

4. I play World of Warcraft... I'm a level 59 Undead Rogue. I don't get to play all that much though; too much social life getting in the way i guess.

5. I've had a [government taxed] job since i was 14. From McDonald's, to today at Hallmark.

6. I was a child model.

Tag Rachel, Raymundo, Laura, Heather, Aaron, and Bret, you're it!

You're Survey Fairy,
Josh

Infectious

Creepy or cool?

Today, on the way back from a birthday lunch for myself and Adam. We talked about the advantages to having little hands on the ends of your fingers. Brilliantly, my friend Heather L. explains the advantage of "having a little hang to grab onto boogers while you are picking your nose", among other things. The discussion ended with me still trying to figure out if it would be creepy or cool. thats all on that for now.

I have been twittering up a storm and hardly blogging... sorry folks.

A Problem, A Rose

Happy Valentine's Day

The yellow ones are for friendship. Maybe you got one? Some people just don't deserve to go Valentine's without getting anything. So, i made sure you at least got something.

In other news, I think i am sick. It doesn't happen often with me, but talking about it so much lately, i think i jinxed myself. I hope everyone else had a good day.

Better Than That

Happy Friday (er, Saturday now)!

Evel Knievel

This jump, in 1967, could have killed Evel, but only put him in a coma for 29 days. Instead, he died today, Nov. 30th, 2007 of diabetes. If this teaches us anything it's; to take risks. Don't be afraid to do what you want and what makes you happy. In the end, if you survived, it only made you stronger. Also, possibly that unbalanced blood sugar levels are deadlier than wicked high jumps. You decide. Either way, as hero and icon to many, rest in peace Evel Knievel.

Dark Parts

Vader in Love.

So, as most of you have undoubtedly heard the Writer Guild is on strike, putting a end to topical humor on TV for a while, and a hold to many of our beloved scripted TV shows and movies. You can't blame the writers for going on strike, but their contracts couldn't have run out at any worse of a time. TV will be taking the biggest hit, where new coming shows, such as Chuck... and... well others that just started, have no chance of taking off because of a prolonged break in their season. My biggest concern is LOST. They have filmed 8 of 16 episodes and the show comes on in February (more likely late February now). The shows producers are concerned that viewers will be frustrated at the 8 show breaking point, where as there is a rather large cliffhanger planned, and seemed to allude that thats where the season really gets good. In other words.... don't expect LOST to be on until 2009 unless the strike ends soon. Maybe i will read a book...

...I know, yeah right. Thats just silly. HA, books...

Crack, Dry, Fade

Dear Megalodon,

I think you are totally sweet. Do you still exist? I think you do, but people say you don't. What was it like to star in Jaws? Who do you think would win in a fight, you or a band of highly trained ninjas?

Love, Josh

There needs to be bad design in the world for people to know what good design is, as Heather put it so well. This Guy makes people know for sure. It's so bad i want to repeatedly punch myself in the face.

Armored Soul.

This post is for Heather because i think it's pretty funny she is haven't nothing but trouble getting on blogger... but i am having no problem at all. She will have lots of really cute pictures to show everyone later though.

Also, Craig's List can be funny too.

The 2004 Census tells me there are 149.1 million females in the US. 54 million of them are unmarried. Lets say that half of that is in my age group, and probably a tenth of that is the kind of girl that i am interested in. And then divide that number by 50 (states). Roughly, that equals... me being single for a long time. Staggering.

Frisky Dingo is pretty much the best show ever.

Warhammer Online is going to be cool.

This is all so random.

Faith and Understanding.

From the point i got out of bed today, i was already mentally exhausted. I obviously had a tough time last night... I didn't think it would last into the morning but it did. Some things just plague your mind you know?

I haven't been to church in a while but i made Garth a promise that i would give her church a try today. So I did. I have a lot of lament toward the church, so i don't often go. It hadn't been that long since i was to church last, but there was something about going today that made it feel like it was years ago. This was actually a pleasant experience. I can't say that i will be going back every Sunday, but i regained a little "faith" in the church. It was very casual. Sort of a hipster get-together for Christian kids. The worship was like a concert. The sermon was like a conversation. The crowd was pretty diverse age wise i guess, but it was mostly people our age. All in all I had a good time. Maybe I can find a nice Christian chic to make me happy.

On topic with Garth, the group just got a spiritual 1-up with her boyfriend moving to KC on Tuesday. I'm hoping that his might mean more friends. Aaron is a terribly good guy, and I'm psyched to have him out here.

Garth and I had lunch at Chipotle after church, where we briefly talked about that, church, life, my troubles. It was a good time as always.

Full from lunch, i came back and sat around for a little while. I called Lauren and talked to her for a little while. Then later on i talked to Nick. Both were completely opposite kinds of conversation, on the same subject. The one thing they had in common was they both made me feel better, and i really appreciate them.

By the time i was finished with talking to both of them, i was pretty run dry mentally. So, of course, i thought i would punish myself more by going to the gym and getting a physical work out to go with my mental one.

While i was there i put on my new favorite show. Man vs Wild. I swear... Awesome! Bear Grylls is more man than anyone EVER. I can only hope to be half the man he is. Watching his show while working out definitely gives you more gusto to get the job done.
If you are really feeling up to it, search YouTube for the zebra clip. OH yeah. thats the stuff.

The rest of the afternoon was a blur... and now i ended up here blogging...

Night all.

A Page From Your Book

*DISCLAIMER* This image is several weeks old, but i wanted to post some pen sketches of mine. Due to my problems with my laptop, i haven't been able to scan them. I did these about a week after Heather and i broke up. In no way does this reflect my feelings at this moment. I am actually in a pretty content place in my life.

I now have 3 printed cards as far as i know. I got samples in the mail today. I will try and post them up later... They are actually a little embarassing.

Today Cecilia and i officially registered our cards to Mo. Cripes. Scary. It was a long, painstaking process that i am not looking forward to doing again anytime soon.

And then, Heather sent me this. Apperently, there is a fine line between being a geek and being mentially challenged.

Summer Love (Fireworks)

RJD2 video in Philly. At least it looks like Philly. This guy is smooth on crutches.

I was having a good talk with my friend Heather Kerchner from home, when we started to talk about college and moving away (she is taking a job in Knoxville). It's funny how life isn't how we expect it to be. Especially when it comes to friends. You spend all your time building relationships, only to move away and have to start over. Almost everyone in college moves away, and it's hard to stay friends with the distance. Our parents say, "take your time growing up and enjoy school while it lasts", but you don't realize it's the truth until it's too late. In contrast, I was talking to my friend Heidi from high school and she was saying how it was great that our reunion really refurbished some of her old friendships. Unfortunately, like I, she is in a different state and has to travel home to see those old friends. I miss my friends from home, and from high school, but i wouldn't trade the new friendships i have made here in Kansas City for anything. And just like college, in time, we will move away.

I don't know what it is with me lately, but i have been putting a lot of thought into this nonsense. I'm sorry i don't have more design stuff to talk about. I look forward to this weekend so maybe i can keep my mind off of it.

I'm pretty excited to go to my friend Em's wedding reception on Saturday evening. Sunday, I promised Heather Garth i would finally go to church with her, and then going to lunch. I'm doing my best to make my life more interesting, and to make the most of my time. I was also invited to a party sunday afternoon, i think i might go to that as well. But that one is up in the air. In between i am going to start designing a website for my sister.

Tomorrow, if i have the time, I hope to upload some stuff. I guess this is where the post ends today.

Love, Josh

I Hope Someday You Find Happiness

In my opinion, design news is pretty slow today, and well, this weekend i guess too. Instead, enjoy watching this reporter hurt himself. I personally can not stop watching it.

Lately, i am in a state of transition. I am learning to accept things for the way they are and embrace them. But there are some people and things that make it difficult. Luckily, it's another beautiful day here in Missouri.

This weekend we watched the chilling movie "Candy" starring Heath Ledger. It was a movie based around drug abuse, and it made me feel pretty uncomfortable watching. All-in-all though, it was a pretty good movie. It's a good thing Heather is an indie film junkie or i probably wouldn't have rented it myself.

Sunday, on another beautiful day, i got pretty sunburnt. How come you can never get burnt in a convenient spot? Not that it' s ever convenient, but i felt i could have at least got alittle sun on my stomach and i didn't get anything. All well, next weekend? I also got a new cell. If you are at all interested in it's number, let me know and i will pass it along.

Exorcise My Demons

Last night, the time had come for Heather to tell me to stop writing about her on this blog. It was an ugly situation last night, and we both ended up angry with eachother, but i will hold up my end of the deal, and this is the last post concerning that. Everyone can breath a collective sigh of relief they don't have to hear my bitching anymore. But i feel renewed. Some how last night had changed me. Getting up this morning was less of a stuggle, I was able to think about thing without getting upset. There are things i would like to write on this blog but i have decided to be a huge girl and start a journal. To both keep my sanity AND write about the things that bother me, i need an outlet.

Oddly enough, there is NOTHING interesting to post yet today. That leaves me in quiet the conundrum on what to post now. Hm. So i am going back to an old stand by:
Dr. McNinja
The picture says it all i think. Pretty ridiculous, and ridiculous = funny.

Maybe more later.

...after a demon is exorcised i bet the demon feels pretty crappy...

So Sunday, i got a suprise call from my "long lost" friend Michelle. After talking to her for a half hour i realized how much i missed it. Things are going as well as can be expected. I let my imagination take hold all to often sometimes though.

In Memory of... Part 2

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I'm not sure what happens when you make a mess out of it though. You feel like quite the bachelor when you make dry pancakes and burnt eggs. However, it was still good. Besides the fact my stomach is a little upset. I felt it was only right to make breakfast this morning, being that I almost always go out.

I'm sick of seeing movies about penguins coming out. fuck penguins.

Then I played the Wii for a few hours.

The Zelda game is ballin'. I'm particularly glad i bought that game. It doesn't quite make use of the Wii-mote as i would have liked but the game play and the story line are awesome. The new Metal of Honor game is a lot of fun. Aim and shoot. However, the controls are terrible. It's a struggle to accomplish a mission without looking at the floor or the sky unwillingly. Or possibly, whilst trying to reload; doing an about-face and ending up in a crouch. I needed to get a game though that wasn't a string of mini games to liven up my collection. I am much happier now.

After a short bike ride, a trip to Home Depot to by a drill (and some other things), and finally to Heather's to fix up some stuff and clean, I ended up with a headache and went back home. Once i was home, I was significantly less productive and eventually ended up back on the Wii.

I'm not really sure where the day went. I guess getting up at noon didn't help. Yet, it is after 2.

I felt adult today... other then watching Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and playing video games... other wise... pretty mature.
