Art Is Everywhere

70 Million by Hold Your Horses ! from L'Ogre on Vimeo.

Besides the video being spectacular, Hold Your Horses is a pretty solid band. The vocals remind me of Modest Mouse, with an additional female vocalist on some songs.

Art history (easily my worst subject in college) is chasing me. Not only does this video remind me of my terrifying experience, but Assassin's Creed II is full of famous works as well/. I caught myself analyzing a churches architecture last night. Not to mention I've collected about a dozen famous paints for my gallery.

Another Year...

Top Film of 2009

(500) Days of Summer
The story of a hopeless romantic, who loves crybaby music, that works for a greeting card company gets his heart broken but eventually figures out this true path. Sounds like the story of my life right? Nope, just Tom Hansen, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt in easily my favorite movie of the year. Everything about this movie spoke to me, and had an unfair advantage over the rest. Even after watching it, I said "that's definitely my favorite movie this year" (or something similar). Besides the fact that it's the story of my life, it also stars the beautiful Zooey Deschanel, has an amazing soundtrack, and a great sense of humor about it. Marc Webb, for your first movie effort, this was a home run for me. Keep up the good work.

The Dangerous Summer - Reach for the Sun
The first time I heard the single off of this ablum, it was acoustic, and it filled me with boyish glee. And ever since that point, I've been in love. I can't say this band is don't anything exceptionally "original" or "groundbreaking", but that's exactly what i liked about them. The CD came around about the same time i was just looking to hear some good ol' fashion pop-punk. And there they were. No keyboards, no forced falsetto, no accents. I had to stick with my gut on this pick, because in other peoples eyes this band might not be so special. But to me, they have a place at the top of my list.

Thanks.

I Miss You More Than Most

Top Albums of 2009
(2nd thru 10th)

Since last year, not much has changed, unfortunately for me. The 80's comeback has really put a damper on music for me. As we pass into 2010, somehow people thing we need all of our music to be made with computers. I'm really fucking sick of the "BEEP-BOOP" music. Reviewers are eating it up though. Bands are trading in their guitars for keyboards and iMacs and everyone seems to be OK with it. I can buy into some of it, but as you will find in my "best of" i have chosen bands that most people haven't put on their own lists. On that note, let me tell you what album i thought sucked:

Most Overrated Album: Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion

I'm sick of everyone telling me how great this CD is. It's number one on all the popular lists this year. Is there a hidden message in the tracks? Because all I hear is bad lyrics and looping.

With that said, I know the world is going to hate this list (2nd thru 10th):

2nd
Japandroids - Post-Nothing

These guys remind me of high school – driving around in the back of my buddy Cole's big white van (without any seats), blaring Fugazi through blown out speakers. And as unattractive as that may seem to some, it was likely most fun i will ever have. Japandroids has done all the work for you though. The album sounds like it was recorded by placing a mic in front of a bad Fender amp in someones basement. And then recorded the vocals like it was a bad 80's mix tape (you know the kind where you put the recorder up the radio?). None of this probably sounds appealing to you either, but it's so me... It's the most pure music I have heard in a while.

3rd
Tegan & Sara - Sainthood

I picked up this album really recently and rocked my world. I don't know, I kinda had low expectations going into it, but Tegan & Sara don't seem to disappoint. They have come a long way since their early days, but it's not through conformity, It's through refining their sound. They were one of the first indie bands that started to put keyboards as a focal instrument in their songs, but since then I think it really works. After going back and listening to a couple tracks from "The Con", it felt boring. This album was much more satisfying, driving, and more complete sounding.

4. Dethklok - Dethalbum II
(In some way better than their last effort, in some ways not)
5. Thrice - Beggers (Their best since "The Artist and the Ambulance", i think.)
6. Anamanaguchi - Dawn Metropolis (Nintendo-core, pure "beep-boop" music, but that's what makes it work.)
7. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz! (Back on the scene, combining their old music with disco. Brilliant.)
8. Blakroc - Blakroc (Most entertaining rap i have heard in a long time)
9. Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (I found their past efforts to be more rewarding, personally, but this is what pure fun sound like)
10. Brand New - Daisy (After going back and giving it one last listen, it squeaked it's way into the top 10. Really grew on me.)

Honorable Mentions:
Baroness - Blue Album
Say Anything - Say Anything
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
Passion Pit - Manners

Other Mentionable Albums (in no particular order):
Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Band of Skulls - Baby Darling Doll Face Honey
the Decemberists - The Hazards of Love
New Found Glory - Not Without a Fight
Two Tongues - Two Tongues
The Swell Season - Strict Joy
Dashboard Confessional - Alter the Ending (Deluxe Edition)

Biggest Disappointment: Taking Back Sunday - New Again (what happened to you TBS?)

Romance By The Book

February's mix theme was a "Sweat Mix" or a work out mix.

Get it here. As of this morning the upload still wasn't working yet. So i may have to find another way for you to get this.

A lot has been going on lately. I have been swept off my feet with this girl, work has been crazy, Lost is awesome, and Guitar Hero takes up what other time there is. It's nice to be able to fill in the gaps other of my life with a person who i really enjoy spending time with... and that leads me to next months theme, the "Sexy Mix." I hope to post more often then once a month, but don't bet on it.

When Things Go Right.

It's the middle of winter, but it feels like the middle of April. People are being tricked outdoors; walking their dogs, going on bike rides, enjoying the cloudless sky. But it's still the middle of winter, and we will all be disappointed in a week when we are reminded of such. But for now, it can't hurt to enjoy it. I myself took a quick walk up to Urban Mining —which i like to partake in, even though i rarely buy anything. But on my walk i enjoyed my Favorites List from my CD Exchange Club. It's probably my most favorite mix i have ever made. "What is this CD Exchange Club you speak of?", you ask. Well, me and some friends have devised a CD theme to make for each month of this year. I thought you might enjoy seeing what i put on it:

Enjoy. More to come.

eye bulbs

I thought this was really cool.

I have been listening to a ton of Japanese music again lately. One band in particular, Asian Kung-fu Generation. I discovered them about 5 years ago. Now they are probably in my top 10 bands of all time, and i can't understand a single word they say. I just found out they had two releases come out in 2009. Somehow i missed them both until recently.

Salty Catch

Top Movie of 2008

Slumdog Millionaire

This movie truly is a fairy tale. Most of the classic stories we grew up hearing actually had very tragic origins and didn't always end up as happy as you may think. Slumdog Millionaire is that in it's truest form. By one of my favorite directors, Danny Boyle, this move takes a love story and in my mind, makes it as classic as Romeo and Juliet, or Cinderella. Other than just being overwhelmingly cute, Slumdog was original. Convincing acting, a great soundtrack, and one of my favorite topics of discussion, destiny.

Sigur Rós - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust

Sigur Ros isn't for everyone. But i have realized that the people that love them are die hard fans. I can't really consider myself any different. This CD isn't a far departure from most of Sigur Ros' past, but with the addition of a big booming percussion section on some songs, guitars (especially acoustic) that stand out over the other instruments, and i swear i heard a song sung in English, you get the impression they are trying to keep it interesting. Sigur Ros is my most played artist on Last.fm solely because they make excellent background music.

We're All Waiting On You

Top Albums of 2008

There has been a lot of chill music introduced to me this year. However, the newest craze is dance-core. Every musician is doing the same sort of sound whether it be a rapper, or a rocker. Maybe the sound of the future? Some of those bands still stand out, but mostly it just leaves me craving something i haven't heard yet (or in a while).
This is what I thought of this years music (just like last year, i couldn't just do a top 5. too hard):

2. Frightened Rabbits - The Midnight Organ Fight
It was hard for me not to put this as Number One because I have been having so much fun listening to this album lately. It's the folk music the way i like to hear it. Most gets too mellow and boring in my opinion. It's the kind of music i like to hear when i am interested in a nap; like Fleet Foxes (who i really like now, but they are kinda snooze music).

3. Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs
Death Cab has been one of my favorite bands for a long time. I don't know if it was the the long wait that made me crave new music, or the fact that this CD is legitimately amazing. It was a small departure from their passed CDs were it sounded as if they incorporated a little 90s grunge into their typical melodic tones. It seemed to be a perfect fit and it made for one damn good cd. Now, lets see a new Postal Service album.

4. Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends
5. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
6. Does It Offend You, Yeah? - You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into
7. Murder By Death - Red of Tooth and Claw
8. Ra Ra Riot - The Rhumb Line
9. Kings of Leon - Only By The Night
10. The New Frontiers - Mending

Honorable Mentions
Less Than Jake - GNV FLA (An awesome comeback for LTJ. It was hard to cut them from the top 10)
Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak (Fabulous, just too chill)
Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes (Dreamy hymn like music. It just wasn't doing it for me)

Other Mentionable Albums (in no particular order):
Norma Jean - Anti-Mother
Lil Wayne - III
Gym Class Heroes - The Quilt
The Academy Is... - Fast Times at Barrington High
Unearth - The March
The Cure - 4:13 Dream
Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires
Copeland - You Are My Sunshine
The Killers - Day & Age

Biggest Disappointment:
Fall Out Boy - Folie à Deux

Albums I Missed Out On In '07:
Loney, Dear - Loney, Noir
Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer - Schematics
Chromeo - Fancy Footwork

Future Events

In music news, or rather, lack there of... MTV is a joke. Recently, MTV announced the are getting rid of TRL. So, unofficially, MTV got rid of the last show that actually put music videos on there network. Nice job. The article says they hope to replace it with the show “FNMTV”, whatever the hell that is. That tool Pete Wentz is hosting. Can you honestly call those people VJ's anymore? MTV is now going to play reality shows (in one form or another) on a constant loop 24-7.

Speaking of Pete Wentz; how did Fall Out Boy become so freaking terrible? Honestly! Have you heard their new single?! Does anyone else hear a weird resemblance to Shania Twain's "I Feel Like a Woman"? Come on that sh*t's embarrassing. The new lyrics are about as creative as a Miley Cyrus album, without a professional writers help. I tried, i really did, but it's over between us FOB. I wouldn't even illegally download your new album, if all the songs are as bad as that single.

Best Buy now owns Napster.

Viperess.

One of my favorite people in music is Ace Enders. Not only has he made great music in all of his bands from "The Early November", "I Can Make A Mess Like Nobodies Business", and now his newest venture "Ace Enders and A Million Different People", but he also seems like a really great guy. His latest effort, The Secret Wars, is now online for free on Fuse's The Worm. Here. It's an awesome EP, worth checking out. I mean what do you have to lose; it's free (you don't even have to give them your e-mail or sign anything... free, free)!

Alpha Male Vs The Push-Over

About a week ago my the license on my domain name and hosting expired. After a short debate, i decided to renew them both. This is why my blog and website were down for a couple days, and now, about $150 later, are back up and running. Now that i have spend the money, i am going to make damn certain that i update my website, and blog more often... at least when things cool down.

I have been up to my neck almost all aspects of life since i had last blogged. I went home to see my Dad get remarried, i saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull twice, I saw the Strangers tonight, kickball, a vacation to the Ozarks, keeping busy at work, cycling, and when I can, Worlds of Warcraft. Really, I am having an unbelievable time with life right now. I am finding out things about myself, gaining some self confidence (for now), and have so many things to do it makes my head spin.

and i leave you with this...

Weezer - Pork and Beans
This video is amazing.

A Babe Among the Wolves

Because most people don't watch Cartoon Network as much as i do i figured i would pass this one along. The Hives - Fall is Just Something That Grown-ups Invented. Beautifully illustrated and LETTERED video made for a promo spot with CN's new image. I believe the work is done by Shilo Creative, thats who did the short version of the commercial at least. There is also an other commercial with a tween boy rapping, with a similar style... but i can't find it on the internet anywhere. however, when i do find it, you will be seeing it. Word.

Only the Best for Baby

Top Movie of 2007:
No Country For Old Men
Just as most Coen Brothers movies, this movie was a masterpiece. From start to finish you are on the edge of your seat with no music to add tension to the scenes. This is exactly what i mean when i talk about making an old story fresh again. Basically it was a retelling of the age-old, "finding someone else's treasure" story. Movies have become a cookie cutter of the same old story, just substituting characters out and changing the title, but The Coen Bros owned this one.

Top Album of 2007:
Thrice - The Alchemy Index: Fire & Water
Thrice has been around for a while and they have gone through quiet the change since i had first heard them. They are certainly not the hardcore/metal band i got into long ago, but unlike some bands, i was able to embrace their change. This CD (actually a dual EP set) was part of a concept album collection theme-ing music to each of the four elements; fire, water, earth, and air. Right there, is already calling out, "kick ass, baby". Fire was a little less fast paced and a little softer than i would have liked, but still a solid CD filled with good songs. Water was exactly how i envisioned it to be, with the killer track "the Whaler". This being there 4th effort says volumes about the band, and that their music is maturing with my musical taste.

Thanks Aaron for the idea of doing a "best of". i hope everyone wasn't too bored reading it.

Top Albums of 2007

#2
Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank

I almost forgot how amazing this cd was until i went back to play it after i decided to do this list. Pretty much everything about this release is amazing, from the album art, to the music videos and of course the songs.

#3
Angels & Airwaves - I-Empire

An addictive album that I couldn't keep out of my car stereo. I can't say it's for everyone, but i certainly enjoyed it as much as the last A&A cd i picked up.

4. the Weakerthans - Reunion Tour
5. The Almost - Southern Weather
6. Coheed and Cambria – No World for Tomorrow
7. Circa Survive - On Letting Go
8. Darkest Hour - Deliver Us
9. Minus The Bear - Planet Of Ice
10. Dear And The Headlights - Small Steps Heavy Hooves

Honorable Mentions:
Dethklok - Dethalbum
The Panic Division – Songs from the Glasshouse
Motion City Soundtrack - Even If It Kills Me
Timbaland - Shock Value

Biggest Surprise Album of the Year:
Bright Eyes - Cassadaga

Other Mentionable Albums(in no particular order):
Sherwood - A Different Light
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
the Shins - Wincing the Night Away
Yellowcard - Paper Walls
Tegan & Sara - The Con
Comeback Kid - Broadcasting
Iron & Wine - The Shepard’s Dog
Mae - Singularity
Saves the Day - Under the Boards

For being as into music as i claim i am, i don't talk about it in my blog as much as you might think, so this is kinda catching up. It was hard for me to pick favorites year, and i'm not sure if thats a good or a bad thing, but because of this all of the rankings where pretty close. Enjoy. Check back to see the number ones.

Marked

This is a tattoo idea I drew up for Nick. I kinda just went at it with a Micron pen without sketching out anything first. Typically, i don't do this because it would turn out like crap. I'm not saying this one breaks that mold, but it's better than i thought. And really, the guy doing the tattooing, Tim Kern, is pretty much spectacular, so all he needed was an idea to go by. I will try to get Nick's permission to post his tattoo when it's finished, so you can see where it goes. Nick, start polishing those guns for pictures.

Last night, I bitched out, and got Halo 3. I played it until about 1 last night, so far, so good. Along with Halo i made these purchases:
• The Weakerthans - Reunion Tour
• Iron and Wine - The Shepherd's Dog
• Free Halo 3 wall sticker
• Knocked Up 2 Disc Edition (with free playing cards)
• Taco Bell Grande Meal

Aaron tallied it up to be 126 or so. (what i forget the official tally?!, so what if it was a lot.)
Then, i painted a cool zombie at Aaron and John's. Lucky for me that was free.

The Title Of The Book

I really enjoy Tegan and Sara. Their new album came out very recently, and it's wonderful. I still enjoy "If It Was You" the most though. It's nice that they are able to keep all of there songs neutral in subject. Meaning, they sing using the word "you" versus using "him" or "her". It makes the songs more relatable.

Aaron put up a new song about zombies on his myspace. Give it a listen. That shits ballin'.

NIcely packaged, portable hard liquor for the alchoholic on the go. POCKET SHOTS!

I feel like such a girl today posting about stuff like "Tegan and Sara" and fashion. But...

I Found You in the Tall Grass

I'm going to hit you from all sides with a music theme today.

FIrst off, Kanye West is dropping a new ablum soon too, and had his over artwork done by famous Japanese illustrator Takashi Murakami. You have to give credit to Kanye for not only have good taste, but not putting his face on the album cover. Judging by the sound of his single "Stronger" (hit up the link, to watch the video), sampling Daft Punk. I have been told this album is not so good. BUT, I have a little faith now.

The above video is awesome. The song is ok, but the video was made almost completely using a pop-up book. Hot!

Next, Iron and Wine, you musical genius. This song, Boy with a Coin, is spectacular. It's a rather cheery, almost ethnic feel, but with sorta a dark undertone. It's just so well put together. And besides this, Sam Beam is a master of lyrics. I'm not sure why i never really got into his music based upon the fact i love his remake of "Such Great Heights". This new album drops sometime soon i believe, and after hearing this song, i am anxious to see if the rest hold the same greatness. GOD, i can't stop listening to it. Jenna you have every right to be psyched for this album!

I have more about MTV, but i am itching to leave work so i will save it for another time. Enjoy whats there.

The Fall Guy

Officially, i am house and dog sitting now. So far, so good.

Things I've learned about having a dog (Part one):
- constant love.
- can't eat without them wanting some too.
- it takes twice as long to finish something.
- you have to think about what kind of trouble they can get into before they get into it.

I'm watching Hackers, which was made in 1995. It depicts a grossly inaccurate world of hacking... probably because it was made in 1995. In contrast, hacking should be relatively non-visual, where as these kind of movies show animated mainframes and bullshit computer jargon that just sounds cool. LOL pretty much everything dealing with technology is over-the-top sci-fi craziness. Cheesy as hell. The movie is full of product placement of Quicksilver, Suzuki, and Nokia. The movie is basically a bunch of sub-par actors running rollerblading around to techno and other bad 90's tunes music looking like an corporate vision of ravers and goth kids. However, it is probably one of the best movies of the 90's (when i first saw it) and somehow even today. Visually beautiful, and fun to watch. Also, it features a smokin Angelina Jolie.

Ouch, Linkin Park. Apparently, people where right when they said all the songs sound the same.

Your Web.

Based upon the fact that everyone i know (... two people, but none-the-less) have been posting about poisonous animals in there posts, i figured i would do some research. Now, the brown recluse spider (which everyone and there mom has seen the pictures of its bite on the internet) is pretty much only resident to one area. Here. The south and midwest. Along with that bad boy, there are 18 other spiders (19 total) that roam Missouri, including the Missouri Tarantula. NEAT! In contrast, Pennsylvania also has 19 breeds of spiders as well. Including... you guessed it; THE BROWN RECLUSE! There are some major differences that you should worry about instead, but i am not going to bring them up in hopes that you all stop worrying. Somedays i just wish a brown recluse would bite me...

in 4 hours i will be up for 24 hours... i'm hoping that won't be the case...

I haven't really been able to put a whole lot of time into doing some hard research, so design posts have been hard to come by. here are somethings that i thought were cool.

the Cool stuff:

Things Will Never Be The Way We Expect Them

I went to a wedding reception tonight for my friends Beau and Em. They actually looked really great. Em in her dress and Beau in his tux. And for a brief moment, I could see myself in their shoes. Then, i came to a realization; obviously, I'm pretty unbearable, and will never be in their position. The night ended a little earlier than i would have liked, hence the reason I writing this post before even 11 o'clock, half drunk, on a Saturday night. Now that I am home, alone, i am in the final stages of being drunk. The one were you stop having a good time and you start letting your mind think too much. The stage right before bed. I made some disappointing choices on my part tonight. One, was talking to women that are taken... who knows, maybe both of the decisions were that. If you don't know what i mean by that... then too bad.

This is the track listing for Em and Beau:

Everyone else can enjoy the mix if they wish as well.

Maybe i'll sketch in bed until i pass out.

Congrats guys! Girls suck, but i give credit to anyone who can find the right person to get married to.

Hello Stars, It's Been Too Long. (Bonus Post)

Kwik-E-Mart + 7 11= Genius Marketing Tactic. If you didn't catch that. 7-11 has transformed some of their stores into Kwik-E-Mart's from the Simpsons to promote the movie coming out July 27th. Let the movie be as good as this idea.

Tonight, the moon and the stars are just gorgeous. You just can't get the same view of the sky in Kansas City as you can in rural Pennsylvania. I have constructed an acoustic play list on my iTunes (which is surprisingly small to me), in which i feel suits the mood of the night. At 59 degrees, it's really the kind of night you should wrap yourself and another in a warm blanket and behold the glory of the sky. But, because i don't really have anyone to enjoy it with, my night will be spent inside at the computer. Somehow, i am starting to feel content with this. Hardening? Maybe. The fact is, that being home just feels so... normal. It's like when I'm home, Kansas City never happened, and i am right back to where i was last summer before i knew i had the job at Hallmark.

I can't believe Monday is already over.

When i get back to Missouri... i think things are going to be different.

I have just run out of gusto to finish this post, so enjoy the below; the first part of my story. I will post on what i did these last couple days later. i hope everything is great in the KC,Mo especially, but also in the other assorted states of my viewers.

Oh. Thank you for more calls to see if i was alive.

Today was something else. I worked all morning on a card, only to have someone tell me all the things i should do to it. Sadly, I feel like i should take their advice because my cards don't look "classic humor" enough. Blah. Basically, it's everything i learned to hate in college. Drop shadows, gradients, mixing CAPS and lower case in ways you shouldn't. All well.

I left early from work to help Lindsey move. I am pretty beat, but I'm sure she appreciated it. Everyone is getting a house out here. Hers is a really nice place. A place i can see myself in as well. It would be nice to have a roommate though for something like that. It makes me kinda wonder if i want one too. Hm... This is me wondering.

I have every intention of going home now. I'll be back in PA over the 4th. I am psyched. I'm putting together a list of things to do a home. You'll see it... I mean i post pretty much everything happening in my life on this thing.

Any links Josh? I'm afraid not. Well not design links. Lets focus on music, because the interesting design stuff, i feel, is slim this week.
The Starting Line has an amazing cover here. At least i think so. Album out in July. Philly represent!

Manchester Orchestra. Do not be deceived this is not an actual orchestra. Indie-rock ala Brand New and Nada Surf.

Also check out Cartel. OK, so i am a big girl listening to pop-punk still. But it's just so damn catchy. Their new single Lose it... awesome. Thats all i feel like giving up.

Obviously, tree's are so in. and cool type.

Chances are, no updates for a little. I have a fun weekend ahead of me. But i will tell you about it after it's over.

Remember how the PS3 sucks? I do. Wii sold 338,000 consoles last month. ps3... 58,000. ouch.

love, Josh.

Visitor

Kelly is my cubical neighbor. Kelly is like an older me. He enjoys anime, punk-rock music, lonely lunches, and hopeless romances. He recently found a girl that he really liked. He also recently lost that girl. I never really talk about the people at work, but this morning i felt compelled because he had mentioned how he had just broke up with his girlfriend... on his birthday. It struck a nerve in me, and i realized i was staring at myself. He is secretly all broken up about it, but he wasn't really letting the world know how much, especially his newly-made-ex-girlfriend. He went out of his way to make he happy and then one day he felt it was over even before it happened. Now we both sit here at work unhappy with our current persona.

Work is empty today. Everyone has something more interesting to do than sit in a sad little cubical and stare blankly at a computer screen. Research. Vacation. Whatever your poison. So, I believe, seperately, we are going to take off early today.

There is something about Postal Service that is very comforting and depressing at the same time. If you are thinking USPS... then you should possibly stop reading my blog.

Trivia night was a lot of fun. I felt good being able to at least assist with crap 90's music trivia. Who knew actually listening to Wheetus, Harvey Danger, and LEN would help. Napster and I were good friends back then. I learned that I didn't know my Care Bears as well as i thought. I also learned that i have other friends out in KC. I hope they feel the same.

Maybe I will post some Illustrations later.

The Secrets We Keep to Protect the Ones We Love

One thing that i really love, is hearing about new music. Even if the song is terrible i still love being the first to hear it. A couple of track that i have recently come across that deserve recognition are:
The Noisettes, a band i hadn't heard of until this point, have a song called The Count of Monte Christo. It's a catchy blue-grassy, toe-tapper... but don't take my word for it.
Along the same lines is the new Paul McCartney song, "Dance Tonight". If you get the chance, see the music video featuring Natalie Portman, directed by the same guy who did "eternal sunshine for the spotless mind".
Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Pharrell's combine effort "CRS" single dropped called Us Placers is HOT!
Lastly in music, is the playlist for Heather's Last CD. I'm not even sure why i still gave it to her... i is kinda "lovey" for post-break-up. It's a good mix though, you should check out all the tracks.

THIS BREAK-UP IS DRIVING ME MAD!

Ok, at first i was in a state of shock, and comfort for heather because she was crying. As time went by things changed. It's like going through the steps of losing a loved one or whatever. After Tuesday rolled around it had sorta set in that i wasn't going to go see her that night for TV or movies like we would normally do. I, like an obvious idiot made the attempt to made it easy on Heather and tell her good friends to take good care of her because she was going to need someone to hang out with more then ever. Who knew that less than a week later this would already have back fired in my face and made life even harder. THEN came Wednesday, and Heather and I had briefly spoke through e-mails, one of which concerning the movies we had rented and never watched before the break-up. I made the offering to her to come to my house to watch the movie, as well as bring Heather Garth along (to help keep the get-together less awkward). Garth and i talked that night about the situation. I am not one for confiding my feelings in others, i naively post them online for all to read or i bottle them up. I am just better at typing up my feelings.
... i am so upset i am shaking...
continuing on... when Garth and i talked we made loose plans to do breakfast on Saturday "for sure". You know, to keep us all friends. Obviously, that didn't work. Thursday came, and we watched the movie. The movie, "American Haunting", was not so good, don't rent it. The encounter was awkward. I couldn't bring myself to make eye contact with Heather. I later found out it's because i am slightly bitter about the break up. Heather did however bake me delicious strawberry tarts. Friday was just as bad. Bob and I were going out to lunch when we sawn Erin and Heather eating together. Erin saw me and gave a wave making me feel like if i didn't sit with them then i would be the bad guy. Lunch sucked. Friday night was excellent. Immediately after someone asked me if I would like to go Mini golfing i said yes. It was a blast. I had so much fun. Jaybo, Patti, Merkle, Cecilia, Melissa were the posse. The Heather's could have been part of it but they never showed up at happy hour. I don't think i would have had nearly as much fun if heather was there though. But several times though-out the night i did sit back and think about her. Melissa, the super hot, 32 year old, asian woman, made the night much more bearable. Only to come home to an empty bed. Today, i woke up hoping for that breakfast i was promised and i didn't get a response until after 11. Thats OK because typically we don't go until later anyhow, but Garth wasn't interested in breakfast today. She suggested dinner. Now, i was looking forward to breakfast, but i was satisfied with dinner. No plans were made, just loose ones again, stating the fact that instead of our friendly breakfast we were to have a friendly dinner. Grant it i did miss her call the first time, and then i called her back about 15/20 minutes later, and then she called me back around 5:45 or 6. By this time, according to the following plans she would be pressed for time to go to dinner. Now i would have been upset enough that she couldn't go to dinner, but i found that it was because she was going to a movie with Heather, i was slightly more upset. It must be terrible for Garth to be suck in the middle like this, trying not to choose sides... but maybe unwilling to her, she already has. I don't know why we couldn't all get along. but that wasn't for me to find out. now i sit in my apartment making it look better so maybe i can attract more ladies in because obviously, it's not going to work out for Heather and I.

While at WalMart i was reminded of all the things that used to make Heather and I happy. I was able to think of all the good times, as usual. Heather wasn't able to do that. She made it a point to bring up the big fight we had saturday and sunday night. She was taken down by one weekends time. YET, I put up with 6 months of on-again-off-again sex, friendship, and fighting, for the few good times i can remember from all the things i see everywhere. When you are the dumpee everything is harder apparently, because you had everything to lose. I know Heather is going to find this and freak out. But let her. I don't care anymore. Please come crying to me Heather. You obviously don't need me as a friend as much as you say you do, because you are doing perfectly fine using Garth as my replacement every day. I'm upset, because obviously you needed a friend as much as i did... and now i have no one. thanks a lot.

*sigh*

Nothing works.

Lyrics.

I just want to say, i picked the worst genre of music to enjoy while going through a tough break up... it's like every song fits perfectly with my situation. I can't concentrate on my work, it's like the iPod is reading my emotions.

Straight to the Heart

CD Exchange Club 3 - I Hope You Like It.

if you don't have it... make it.

this cd is a goodbye. Kristen, goodbye. For a journey to New York.

i'm not really going to go into the VT tragedy today. I'm sure everyone has heard more about it then they would like to already. From the prospective of a person with a good friend that is a Hokie, it is a scary event. Please give a moment and pray for the lost and their families.

time to crawl into bed.

Defeating the Dragon King of the Orient (Season 1 Episode 9)

I never know how to start off these posts. I want to start writing something compelling and poetic, like the narration in the beginning of a "Sex and the City" episode. Sadly, I have been watching Sex and the City every day. That's what girls should like right? I feel like everyday, I make it an effort to be more of a perfect guy. Do you think anyone really appreciates it? I wish I could answer that, I don't think so though. I know Heather does sometimes. She makes me a happy guy.
I am losing weight (i can't really correct my looks otherwise).
I have a good amount of money that I offer to spend when I can help out.
I like to think I am funny.
I am pretty good at my job.
I appreciate things that girls like (i.e. Sex in the City, Chic Flicks, gossip, etc).
I appreciate things that dudes like (i.e. sports, electronics)
I do my best to be sweet and courteous and do things just to make a someone smile.
But, with all of this, people and things still hang over my head of being better then me. Looking better, designing better, everything. There is one guy... that bugs me so damn much. SO MUCH! I don't know if I can ever out do him. Really, I don't know if I have to... but it would make me feel better if I knew in my mind I was.

I bought an iPod. Obviously, that was a dangerous thing for me if you have any idea how much I love music. Currently I have 7121 songs on my iTunes and unfortunately I am slowly running out of space on my computer. I will probably have to start making space. Maybe delete World of Warcraft? ugh. I really hope I would never want to play again because it would be a pain to reinstall. But having the iPod turned me into one of "those guys" always walking around with headphones in my ears... I mean it's just so damn convenient. I know... welcome to the 21st century. I'm sure the novelty will run out eventually. But who knows how long it could be.

We here have has a string of visitors here in Kansas City. And by we, I mean Heather, and we merely observed when it was convenient for us. Last week, from Monday afternoon until Friday morning, Heather's good friends Greg and Megan were up. It was really nice getting to know them. I guess it would be nice to know Heather's friends huh. They are awesome people just looking for a good time in KC,Mo (and maybe a job). So Heather got her "spring break". This week, here parents are here. I am respecting her space, and giving her time to hang out with her parents with as little interruption as she wants. Because of this, I haven't seen her outside of work since Friday at lunch. It's hard. When you really like a person (it helps that she is easy to look at too), it's hard not to see them a couple times a week. I feel like we are thousands of miles away. Will this help us grow stronger?

I hope some one comes to visit me soon.

On the opposite end up friends coming to visit... Kristen is leaving. I just started to become "pretty OK" friends with her and she is moving to NYC. It sucks. But we all have to say, we would do the same thing in her situation (or possibly even in a less comfortable situation).

I started to sketch out my tattoo tonight. I guess I am really going to go through with it. My idea might be a little complicated, so we will see if it happens on the date planned, but my hopes are to have it done other the weekend of my birthday. Just in time for summer. I will upload an image when i have a more final looking version together.

I wish I had something profound to say in closing as well... but i don't, so move on. Peace.
-Josh

Baby, It's Been a While

The music starts up, and a forest of arms arises. Peering through, you can see the boyish face covered in shaggy hair, that matches the wining voice on stage. When it's all over, the music fades to a piercing ring, bringing all other sounds do a dull mute. I saw Taking Back Sunday, UnderOath, and Armor for Sleep tonight. It was a great show. Taking Back Sunday is always a good time, and the opening bands put on a great show was well. I really enjoy going to shows with Heather especially. Ever since I saw Heather holding hands with her Ex way back 2 years or so ago, I have wanted to do the same. That, and to protect her from the raging mosh-pits (even though she could probably handle herself). Tonight I got my chance. We had a romantic "high school date" where we went to McDonald's and the concert. It was exciting to say the least. I would do more of a review on the show but i don't feel like it this time.

Somehow concerts have made their way back into my scheduled activities. First Vedera and other local acts, and then the Shins, TBS... I might also see Vedera again this weekend, Straylight Run later this month, and the Decemberists in April. There are plenty of other shows I would love to go too but I just can't afford all of this.

There is a good chance I am going to buy a Wii this weekend. Next on the list to buy after that is either a tattoo, or an iPod.

This past weekend was an excellent time. We traveled out to Legends. Of course this destination had to be an outlet mall, so I couldn't help but spend lost of money at mildly discounted prices. My fashion consultants; Kristen, Lauren, Bob, and Heather, didn't help either. I got:
-a Banana Republic Blazer
-a Gap Jean Jacket
-a stripped T
-Nike Running shoes
-Chucks
I felt all were well worth the money spent though. I'm also very glad I am able to really connect with these people out here. I feel like each day I grow closer to these people making them lifelong friends.

This is a crock of shit. I find it ironic how someone can complain about Macs not shutting up, but everyone knows that PC users have a history of complaining about Macs since they were built.

I missed Lost tonight... looks like I will have to catch up tomorrow at work. Yeah, I know, I'm terrible. Goodnight folks.
