Besides the video being spectacular, Hold Your Horses is a pretty solid band. The vocals remind me of Modest Mouse, with an additional female vocalist on some songs.
Art history (easily my worst subject in college) is chasing me. Not only does this video remind me of my terrifying experience, but Assassin's Creed II is full of famous works as well/. I caught myself analyzing a churches architecture last night. Not to mention I've collected about a dozen famous paints for my gallery.
I have been listening to a ton of Japanese music again lately. One band in particular, Asian Kung-fu Generation. I discovered them about 5 years ago. Now they are probably in my top 10 bands of all time, and i can't understand a single word they say. I just found out they had two releases come out in 2009. Somehow i missed them both until recently.
These videos are amazing; both by Los Campesinos. It started out with me thinking the songs were awesome, then i looked these videos... and i think i am in love. enjoy.
i am going to start making music videos... i've just decided.
ps. make sure to check out the rest of his videos if you liked this one. pps. i can't wait for my vacation in puget sound, wa. maybe after that i will actually start to post again?
Nice work Converse. Happy 100 Year Anniversary. Like the song? Good, me too. NERD, the Strokes... that other chic... Go to their site to download the full song for free.
About a week ago my the license on my domain name and hosting expired. After a short debate, i decided to renew them both. This is why my blog and website were down for a couple days, and now, about $150 later, are back up and running. Now that i have spend the money, i am going to make damn certain that i update my website, and blog more often... at least when things cool down.
I have been up to my neck almost all aspects of life since i had last blogged. I went home to see my Dad get remarried, i saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull twice, I saw the Strangers tonight, kickball, a vacation to the Ozarks, keeping busy at work, cycling, and when I can, Worlds of Warcraft. Really, I am having an unbelievable time with life right now. I am finding out things about myself, gaining some self confidence (for now), and have so many things to do it makes my head spin.
Many of you already know of this YouTube phenomenon. If not, MittyMoo is a guy that dresses up like a woman, mostly a mother, and plays them to a stereotypical tee. Everyone seems to find a little part of their mother in his character. You will come to realized while watching these, that there couldn't be a more perfect holiday for him to capture. Also, it includes Hallmark this time, so enjoy.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there... which is probably no one who reads my blog.
Just 2 of the new Skittles ads running by TBWA/Chiat/Day. Bold moves Skittles, bold moves. Not many companies would relate their product to someone elses sadness and still sell product. I think it's awesome. I will laugh at someone elses misfortune any day. That's why i watch reality television.
Because most people don't watch Cartoon Network as much as i do i figured i would pass this one along. The Hives - Fall is Just Something That Grown-ups Invented. Beautifully illustrated and LETTERED video made for a promo spot with CN's new image. I believe the work is done by Shilo Creative, thats who did the short version of the commercial at least. There is also an other commercial with a tween boy rapping, with a similar style... but i can't find it on the internet anywhere. however, when i do find it, you will be seeing it. Word.
This is probably my favorite motion typography video. It was created for a senior project by college students. Nuts. The song, if you were wondering, is "the Hush Sound - Lions Roar".
Some people have been upset that i am not posting my drama on here... sometimes i want to, i won't lie. The truth is, January is going pretty crappy, (grant it, this week so far hasn't been horrible, but there is still time) and i just don't really feel like talking about it. You can all gasp in utter shock now. We'll see what next month is like... but for now i am going to still try and post typography/design related material.
Here are some visuals, to counter the gobs of boring words below.
Aaron's design; i just helped make it look pretty. Go vote it a 5 for him.
Street Fighter VI. I was never really good at these games, so in turn i didn't really play them. However, this trailer (be it that this is how the game turns out) is beautiful.
So, as most of you have undoubtedly heard the Writer Guild is on strike, putting a end to topical humor on TV for a while, and a hold to many of our beloved scripted TV shows and movies. You can't blame the writers for going on strike, but their contracts couldn't have run out at any worse of a time. TV will be taking the biggest hit, where new coming shows, such as Chuck... and... well others that just started, have no chance of taking off because of a prolonged break in their season. My biggest concern is LOST. They have filmed 8 of 16 episodes and the show comes on in February (more likely late February now). The shows producers are concerned that viewers will be frustrated at the 8 show breaking point, where as there is a rather large cliffhanger planned, and seemed to allude that thats where the season really gets good. In other words.... don't expect LOST to be on until 2009 unless the strike ends soon. Maybe i will read a book...
...I know, yeah right. Thats just silly. HA, books...
